Krzysztof Penderecki died March 29, 2020 at his home in Krakow. He was 86. He was one of the greatest contemporary Polish composers.
Maestro Penderecki's compositional achievements include 5 operas, 44 works for orchestra / and solo instruments, 17 chamber works, film music written or used in 7 films, compositions for a jazz band, for tape and over 30 vocal works.
The funeral ceremony and submission of ashes in the sarcophagus in the National Pantheon in the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul (at Grodzka Street 52A in Krakow) will take place after the coronavirus pandemic disappears.The National Pantheon in Krakow is a burial place for people of culture, art and science.
